December, Chinchwad (Pune):
160 children from eight slums of Chinchwad had gathered in Don Bosco for the Christmas Party. Most of the children and even their parents mentioned that this is the first Christmas Party for most of the children – since almost all of them are non-Christians. These children attend the regular tuition / support classes that are run by Don Bosco in collaboration with AXA Business Services.

Children came dressed up in their party attire; they were given the Santa Claus caps in Don Bosco; after wearing these caps all the children looked like little Santa-Claus’. The party began with a short prayer service and the traditional lighting of the lamp. The series of events that happened after this left all of them simply amazed. There were action songs, group dances (Christmas dance and cultural dances), games, etc. The highlight of the party was the balloon game – the children were thrilled to play this game and wanted to play it again.

Towards the end of the program Santa Claus arrived and filled the entire crowd with joy and danced with everyone with great enthusiasm. The Santa distributed common gifts, cake and snacks to all. Amidst the fun and frolic the children were also given the central message of Christmas: To Share and To Care For ALL. The first experience of a Christmas party was truly a memorable for all of them
