043 - HEALTH FOR ALL: SPECIALIZED HEALTH CAMP FOR SLUM WOMEN BY DON BOSCO

Ghatkopar (Mumbai) – January 2017:
The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) conducted Free Health Camp for the women from the slums of Ghatkopar - more than 550 women benefited through this camp. DBDS in association with the Seven Hills Hospital, Kurla conducted it for the poor and needy women from the slums. Women were grateful to DBDS and Seven Hills Hospital for offering such a wide range of check-ups free of cost.

The health camp was inaugurated by Fr. Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director of DBDS) and the guest of honour Mrs. Misia (Foundation Asha – Switzerland). Other dignitaries present on the occasion were the MLA, the School Principal and Board of Trustees in whose school premises this camp was held. Fr Rolvin in this address thanked the dignitaries present for their support in conducting this camp. He also placed on record his special thanks to Mrs. Zarina Khan (DBDS field staff) for arranging this camp.

The health camp saw ladies visiting in huge numbers as the slums in Ghatkopar - Kurla lack proper public health services. The Health Camp provided specialised screening and consultation with experts on naturopathy, eyes, gynaecological problems and cardiac problems. Many ladies were referred to hospital for further treatment. “We will extend all the support for Don Bosco in conducting such activities in our area” said Mr Sitaram Tiwari – the Nagarsevak (Cooperator) of the area.
