074 - Workshop on Women Rights and Personal Law

Pune, 6th May 2017: 
The Don Bosco Development Society organized a ‘Legal Awareness’ workshop for the women residing in the slums of Sidharth-nagar and Ramwadi - 38 women participated in the workshop. This workshop was part of ‘women empowerment project’ supported by Manos Unidas, Spain. The objective of the workshop was to create legal awareness among women about their rights and entitlements. 

Advocate Anupama Joshi was the resource person for this workshop. In the session she explained women’s Property rights, Marriage and personal laws, divorce and their provision under law, maintenance, domestic violence, inheritance law, Hindu Marriage Act, Muslim Talak system etc. She also encouraged women to speak-up their problems and act collectively. She than discussed Nirbhaya rape case and informed that how to help such a victim. Participants also actively discussed their problems and were guided accordingly by the resource person.
