075 - Workshop on Financial Goals and Investment

12th May 2017, Pune:
The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Pune organized a workshop on ‘Financial Goals and Investment’ held under the aegis of ‘women empowerment project’ supported by Manos Unidas, Spain. 30 women belonging to Bopodi slum participated; the objective of this workshop was to create awareness and impart skills to women on financial goals and investments. Mr Mahesh Kumar (DBDS, Mumbai – staff) was the resource person for this workshop.

In the first session, Mr Kumar discussed about the effect of inflation on savings and income. He gave various examples how inflation reduce the purchasing power of money. He then explained about how to plan for financial goals.

In the next session, he informed the participants about the post office saving schemes, PPF, Insurance schemes, Pension plans, Sukanya Samruddhi Yojna etc. He then informed how these schemes can help people in achieving financial goals. Many of the participants agreed to open PPF, pension plan counts in post office.
