087 - Indian Spice Making Business Training For SHG Women

Chinchwad, 16th June 2017:
The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized 5 days training workshop on ‘Indian Spice Making Business’ from 12th June to 16th June 2017 for the women SHG members from Ramnagar Nagar slum in Chinchwad (Pune). This training programme was held under the aegis of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by AXA Business Services Pvt Ltd.

The objective of this training was to impart skill and knowledge on spice making as micro business for supplementary income of the families connected to this project. 20 women SHG members completed the entire training. The training was impacted by called ‘Kasturba Mahila Khadi Gramodyog Vidyalaya’ which is a government recognised training institution. Mrs. Uma Dhore (Sr. Technical staff), Mrs. Rajani Atarde (Jr. Technical staff) and Mrs. Ramni Pillay (Sr. Technical staff) were the resource persons for the training.

15 different kinds of spice making were taught including Tea masala, Sambar masala, Goda masala, Garam masala, Biryani masala, kanda lasun masala, Sunday Masala, Malvani Masala, Pav bhaji Masala Chole Masala etc. Participants of the training were selected studying their needs and aptitude for setting up business. It also included sessions on marketing, coasting, budgeting, pricing and brand building. Mrs Lalita Choudhary (Coordinator - DBDS) expressed her satisfaction saying that “we have some very smart and hardworking SHG women who would soon be starting their spice making business and operating from their home.”
