1009 MGL DISHA PROJECT: Income Generation Training for Slum Women

Mumbai, 8-Feb-2020: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai organized a two-day training workshop on ‘production of phenyl and cleaning products’ for 40 women from Saibaba Nagar slum. The programme was held under the aegis of ‘MGL Disha Project’ supported by Mahanagar Gas Limited.

Mr. Babasaheb Kharat was the resource person for this workshop. Ms. Basanti Solanki (Staff- DBDS) welcomed the resource person and the participants and explained the objectives of the training. During the training, the participants learnt to make eight different kinds of ‘cleaning products’. These products included phenyl, detergent, hi-tech powder, hand wash, dish wash, floor cleaner, toilet cleaner and shampoo.

In the next session the resource person covered topics on marketing, costing, budgeting, pricing and branding of product. The participants dedicatedly learnt the skills and were determined to start-up a small business. Raw material was also distributed to participants to help them in starting their business. Ms. Basanti along with the DBDS team mobilized women to attend the training programme.
