Pune, 20th July 2017:
The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Pune organized an ‘Investment planning’ workshop for people from low income group residing in the slums of Pune. Around 15 people participated in this workshop which was organized under the aegis of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by Manos Unidas, Spain. Mr Mahesh Kumar (Senior Program Manager – DBDS) was the resource person for the training.

The workshop focused on the saving and investment behavior of people. It compared risk and returns of different assets classes like gold, equity, real estate etc. Most of the people tend to invest in insurance thinking that it is investment but it not investment in reality as they don’t give returns to beat inflation. Detailed information on investment in small saving schemes of post office was shared with the participants. Participants invited the resource person to hold more such sessions in the slum community.
