1030 AXA Project: Adolescent Girls Health Session at PCMC School

Chinchwad (Pune), 5-March-2020: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized a health awareness session for the adolescent girls of PCMC School located in Mohan Nagar (Chinchwad). 51 girls participated in the session held under the aegis of “Health Risk Reduction Project” supported AXA Business Services.

Mrs. Jadhav (School Principal) welcomed the resource person and DBDS staff. Mrs. Sarika (Staff-DBDS) informed the audience that the objective of the workshop is to educate adolescent girls on personal health, hygiene and sanitation, menstrual cycle and nutrition. Dr. Prajakta Aswar was the resource person for this session. She covered following topics during her session:

1. Personal health, hygiene and sanitation

2. Physical and Psychological changes

3. Menstruation cycle

4. Vulnerability to reproductive health risks & Rights

5. Information about sanitary pads & cleanliness

6. Sexual abuse

7. Good touch and bad touch

8. Risks of consuming tobacco

This was followed by a question and answer session in which the participants asked questions which were answered by the resource person. Mrs. Rajshree Deshkhaire (Staff-DBDS) did the logistical arrangement for this event and organized girls to participate in the session.
