Mumbai, 31st July 2017:
The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai organized a Disabilities Awareness Program for women residing in the slums of Ashok Nagar (Kurla, Mumbai). The dignitaries present for this program were three special guests from Italy: Francesco, Erio and Matteo. All three dignitaries are from the Italian organization known as Auxilium India. More than 65 self-help group women participated in this workshop.

The Italian organization Auxilium India has been supporting the works of DBDS for last nine years. It was quite an enigmatic experience for the special guests to witness this program in Kurla. Fr Rolvin D’Mello (Executive director – DBDS) in his welcome speech mentioned that the main objective of this workshop was to create an awareness among the women regarding the importance of the different vaccinations for the children.

Fr D’Mello specially thanked Auxilium India for their constant support; towards the activities happening through DBDS in 26 slum-pockets of Mumbai. Mr Francesco told all the participants that it was a great joy also for them to witness this program and he wished all the women a very bright future.

After the program the Italian guests visited the other works of DBDS in the slums of Mumbai. They visited Sion Koliwada and Wadala. At both the places they were warmly welcomed and had a short meeting with women.

“It was truly phenomenal to see the kind of work done by Don Bosco Fathers (priests) in the slums of Mumbai” said Mr Erio at the end of the visit.
