1042 AXA Project: Breast Cancer Check-up for Slum Women in Pune

Koregaon Park (Pune), 12-March-2020: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), organized a free breast cancer check-up camp at Don Bosco High School, Yerwada for 67 women residing in the slums. The camp was held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction Project’ supported by AXA Business Services.

The camp began with the welcome address by Mr. Nagsen Chavan (DBDS-Coordinator). Fr Micheal Bansode (Rector- Don Bosco, Yerwada) inaugurated the camp and thanked the team of Para Medical Staff for taking up this camp. Mrs. Rebecca Joseph and Mrs. Sangita physically examined the women for symptoms of breast cancer. 2 women were found to be having abnormal lump in their breasts that were referred for Mammogram in the hospital. An awareness session on breast cancer was also held in which Mrs Jospeh discussed about risks, tests and screening, symptoms and treatment of Breast Cancer.
