107 - “Dream Big – Achieve BIG” for the Slum Youth of Mumbai

Matunga (Mumbai), 05-August-2017:
The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai organised a career program for the youth from the slums of Mumbai. There was a phenomenal response; more than 120 youth participated in this program “Dream Big – Achieve BIG”. The event was held in the Don Bosco Provincial House with the objective of assisting the youth in choosing a good career.

Fr Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director – DBDS) while welcoming the gathering, mentioned that Don Bosco as a society is committed to the well-being of the youth and especially the under-privileged youth. He further added that DBDS is truly devoted in assisting these youth in shaping their bright future. Fr Glen (Rector of Don Bosco Provincial House) mentioned that all the facilities in the campus are meant for the youth – especially for the youth from the slums. He wished all the youth a very bright future and to feel at home in the campus of Don Bosco Matunga.

The 3 resource persons were Mr. Sachin Khedekar (CEO - Chetana Foundation), Mr. Akshay Goud (Director - Guidance Group) and Mrs. Nivedita Kathe (Staff, Brain Lorio). In their address the resource persons covered wide variety of topics related to career and personal growth. Some of the topics were; aptitude and interest, steps to career planning, setting career goals, 7D model, preparing for completive exams etc. Special attention was paid to career in banking and finance and cracking Bank Probationary Officers exams of various private and public sector banks.

Mr Sunil Pandhre (Youth Coordinator – DBDS) proposed the vote of thanks. It was also communicated to all the youth that there will be variety of programs for them during the course of the year. The youth went back enriched and also refreshed with the snacks and refreshments provided at the end of the program.
