108 Expanding Economic Opportunities for the Slum Women of Pune

Pune, 31st July 2017:
The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Pune organized a week long training workshop on ‘Phenyl, Detergent Powder (Liquid soap) and Shampoo making Business’ from 25th July to 31st July for the women Self-help Group (SHG) members from Bopodi slum in Pune. This training program was held under the aegis of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by Manos Unidas, Spain. The objective of the training was to motivate women to acquire skills and knowledge to initiate income generation activity to increase their household income.

This training was held in association with Kasturba Mahila K
hadi Gramodyog Vidyalaya, Pune. 20 SHG women successfully completed the entire training. The participant women learnt about making and selling Phenyl, Detergent Powder (Liquid soap) and Shampoo during this week long training. They also learnt about marketing, costing, budget, pricing and promoting their product. The participants dedicatedly learnt the skills and were determined to start a small business – thanks to Don Bosco and Manos Unidas.
