1109 Covid-19 Relief Work for Commercial Sex Workers and Transgenders

Chinchwad, June-2020: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) in joint collaboration with AXA Business Services is reaching out to 3,000 poor and needy in the slums of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. Relief kits containing ration, toiletries and hygiene kits were distributed to commercial sex workers and transgenders.

Fr Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director – DBDS) speaking on the occasion thanked AXA Business Services for sponsoring this project. Ms. Lalita Chaudhari and Mr. Sachin Auchare, along with the DBDS staff successfully handled these relief operations under the direction of Fr Sanjay Lopes. During these relief operations social distancing and all the other government compliances were strictly adhered to. Through these relief operations DBDS and AXA is reaching out to the most vulnerable categories like commercial sex workers, physically challenged, transgender, widows, etc.

Since April 2020 DBDS has DIRECTLY touched the lives of more than 1,30,000 poor and needy – providing for their basic needs during this challenging time of Covid-19 pandemic.
