Ahmednagar (Maharashtra), September: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) through its implementing partner Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) is currently implementing a project on climate change. As part of this project a new check-dam was built in Ujjani-Pimpalgaon in Ahmednagar. This project is financially supported by Don Bosco Mondo (Bonn - Germany).

Fr Manuel Murzello (Economer – Salesian Province of Mumbai) inaugurated the newly built check-dam in the presence of Fr Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director – DBDS) and Fr George D’Abreo (Director - BGVK) and other dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion Fr Manuel emphasized on the pressing need of caring for our mother earth. Fr Rolvin thanked Don Bosco Mondo for their support not just for this particular project but for number of other development projects. He also thanked the local administration for their support.

A good number of farmers will be benefiting through this newly built check-dam; as this will increase the ground water table and recharge the nearby wells. This project on climate change is currently being implemented in Ahmednagar, Beed, Aurangabad, Jalna and Parbhani and focuses on: conservation and management of water resources, organic farming and linkages to government entitlements.
