1207 MGL Disha Project: Remedial Education Catering to More Than 500 Slum Children in Mumbai

Mumbai, December 2020: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai is conducting 20 remedial classes for 507 children from slums of Mumbai. Regular classes are going on since July 2020 for the children from Stds. I to VII. Teachers devote two to three hours daily to cover the prescribed syllabus. Children are taught in a child friendly, non-critical and non-threatening environment.

Fr Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director - DBDS) speaking on the occasion said that, “audio-visual aids such as charts, videos, models, etc are used in teaching and records are kept to track the progress and learning achievements of every child.” He also added that this remedial classes are extremely essential for shaping the bright future of these children; since due to the coronavirus pandemic the schools are closed and for most of them are not able to attend any form of online education.
