1227 Mask Making and Sanitizer Making Training for COVID-19 affected Women

Chinchwad, February 2021: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) conducted face-mask making and sanitizer making training in Chinchwad under the aegis of the health project financially supported by AXA Business Services. The objective of these trainings was to impart skills and knowledge for supplementary income to the families connected to this project.

Mask making training was held on 22-January for 11 women from the slums in Chinchwad. Ms. Manisha Kshirsagar was the resource person for this training program. The participants learnt to make three types of masks, namely round double cloth mask, double plate mask and triple plate mask. Resource person also took session on business development and management. She also guided on marketing, costing, budgeting, pricing and branding of products. Roughly, the mask would cost Rs. 8 to Rs. 13 to make and they can be sold for Rs. 15 to Rs. 30 thus getting a profit of Rs. 7 to Rs. 17 per piece.

Sanitizer making training was held on 29-January for 5 women from slums in Chinchwad. MRs. Samidra Thite was the resource person for this training program. The participants learnt to make three types of training namely liquid base, gel base and spray. Resource person also took session on business development and management. She also guided on marketing, costing, budgeting, pricing and branding of products. Roughly, the 100ml sanitizer would cost Rs. 18 to Rs. 22 to make and they can be sold for Rs. 45 to Rs. 50 thus getting a profit of Rs. 22 to Rs. 28 per 100 ml bottle.
