1255 MEDICAL CARE PROJECT FOR THE KIDS IN VADODARA

Free Health Camps for Kids:

Vadodara (Gujarat), February-March 2021: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) organized a free eye check-up camp was held on 18th and 19th February at Kishanwadi slum. Dr Sanjay Kumar and his team of para-medical staff examined 80 girls and 68 boys. The objective of this camp was to detect eye disorders, refractive errors and create awareness on early detection of diseases and disorders related to eyes. The camp was organized in collaboration with Manavta Polyclinic. 15 girls and 10 boys’ complaint of difficulty while reading books. Children were given vitamin tablets.

Another free health camp was held on 26th March at Don Bosco Snehalaya; 29 boys benefited from this camp. Dr Yogesh Agrawal and his para-medical staff conducted this camp. The children were diagnosed to be suffering from fungal infection, common cold, calcium deficiency, skin infection and anemia. Proper medical treatment was given to all.

Health Awareness Sessions:

Vadodara (Gujarat), February-March 2021: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) organized a health awareness sessions for boys residing in the slums of Vadodara. Fr George Miranda (Director- Snehalaya) was the resource person for the session. The objective of the session was to educate boys on health, hygiene, and COVID-19 pandemic and precautions. At the end question and answer session was held in which children asked questions which were answered by Fr George. The session ended with sumptuous snacks for all.

Another health awareness session was conducted by DBDS at Medli Nagar on 25th March. Miss Jagruti Patil was the resource person for this session in which 30 boys participated. The session ended with nutritious snacks for all.

Fr Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director - DBDS) thanked ‘Mix for Kids’ e.v. (Germany) for financially supporting all the above activities for the under-privileged children in Vadodara.
