1260 AXA Project: a social development project in Pune and Chinchwad

Pune, March 2021: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) conducted two health awareness sessions and one sanitizer making training in the slums of Pune and Chinchwad under the aegis of the health project financially supported by AXA Business Services. A total number of 64 people benefited from these activities.

Mr Nagsen Chavan and Mrs Sarika Kadam (both DBDS staff) were the resource persons for the two health awareness sessions; held on 26th and 27th of March explaining the importance of washing and cleaning hand with hand wash and covering nose and face with mask and obey social distancing. Following information was also given to participants:

  • COVID-19 symptoms and precautions
  • SARS and COVID-19 and how it spreads
  • Clinical features like incubation period, recovery time, signs and symptoms
  • Preventive measures
  • Government guidelines
  • Stigma prevention and positive attitude

Mrs Akshada Naik (DBDS staff) was the resource person for the sanitizer making training held on 18th March. The objective of these trainings was to impart skills and knowledge for supplementary income to the families connected to this project. The participants learnt to make three types of sanitizers namely liquid-based, gel-based and spray. Resource person also conducted a session on business development and management: marketing, costing, budgeting, pricing and branding of products.
