Mumbai, May 2021: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) inaugurated yet another remedial education project for the children residing in the slums of Mumbai. This project will benefit more than 200 children through remedial education and also 250 children will receive education material through this project which is financially supported by Schöck Family Foundation, Germany.

Speaking on the occasion Fr Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director - DBDS) thanked Schöck Family Foundation for supporting the education of the children residing in the slums of Mumbai. The project was inaugurated on 31-May via an online event and from 01-June onwards the regular classes have begun in smaller groups for the children; ensuring strict observance of all the Covid protocols.

On 03-June a staff capacity building workshop was held for all those involved in this project. The resource person, Ms Bindu Chaddha (Educational Psychologist) through her interactive sessions dealt with child’s learning behaviour, qualities of a teacher and various methods of teaching. She gave valuable inputs on how to teach students coming from different mediums and backgrounds by preparing teaching-learning aids (games, stories, lesson plans) and classroom management.
