160 Five-Days Training for Slum Women

Chinchwad (Pune), 31-October-2017: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized a five days training workshop on ‘Indian Spice and Pickle Making Business’ from 26th to 31st October 2017 for the Self-Help Group (SHG) women from Ramnagar Nagar slum in Chinchwad. This training programme was held under the aegis of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by AXA Business Services Pvt Ltd.

The objective of this training was to impart skill and knowledge on spice making as micro business for supplementary income of the families connected to this project. 20 SHG members completed the entire training. The training was held in association with ‘Kasturba Mahila Khadi Gramodyog Vidyalaya’ which is a government recognized training institution.

Mrs. Rajani Attatde (Sr. Technical staff) and Mrs. Lalita Mahajan (Jr. Technical staff) were the resource persons. During the training 15 different kinds of spices and Pickle making were taught to participants. This included Tea masala, Biryani masala, kanda lasun masala, Sunday Masala, Malvani Masala, Pav bhaji Masala, Lemon-chili Pickle, Lemon Sweet Pickle, Karela Pickle and Imlee Pickle etc. Participants of the training were selected based on an interview. Mr. Mohan Dusane (Sub-Marketing Management) was the resource person for training on marketing, costing, budgeting, pricing and branding of product.
