172 REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AWARENESS FOR SLUM GIRLS

Pune, 20-November-2017: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Pune organized a ‘HEALTH AWARENESS WORKSHOP’ for the girls residing in the slums of Pune. This workshop was part of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by Manos Unidas, Spain; with the objective of educating the girls on their reproductive and general health.

The workshop was held in association with Alochana Sanstha, Pune. Ms. Archana and Mrs. Ranjana Pandit were the resource persons. They informed the participants about the physical changes during puberty in girls and boys. Ms. Archana explained about adolescence age and significant physical growth and changes. This is a period of transition into adulthood not just physically but also mentally and emotionally. She has also explained the female reproductive system. Mrs. Ranjana explained the nutritional requirements of body during this phase and need to maintain good health for future years.
