Mumbai, 20-Dec-2017:
The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai organized a Free Health Camp for the residents of Nityanand Nagar slum in Ghatkopar (Mumbai). 205 patients including women, men and children benefited from this free health camp held under the aegis of ‘Flood Relief Project’ supported by Don Bosco Mondo, Germany.

Fr Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director – DBDS) visited the Health Camp and supervised the various operations of the camp. Interacting with the people he shared that, “We are doing our best, we hope this camp will help people in rebuilding their lives.” Ms. Surekha Pednekar (Project Coordinator - DBDS) welcomed all the General Physicians and their Para-medical staff.

The camp was held in collaboration with Seven Hills Hospital Dr. Pinky Patil, Dr. Neha Qureshi, Dr.Suhas Jadhav, Dr. Meena Kumari Yadav, Mr. Shushant and their team examined the patients during this health camp. Patients underwent examinations such as Blood Pressure examination, Sugar Level Examination, Dental Check-up, Eye Check-up, Naturopathy, Cancer, Kidney, Heart (Cardiac) related problems etc. People with defective eye-sight were given spectacles at a highly subsidized price of Rs 80 to Rs 150 only.

15 women volunteers from the slums itself were extremely helpful as they helped in arranging facilities, visiting slums and informing people about the health camp and managing the crowd. Sharing her experience one of the beneficiaries, Mrs.Rajeshree Adangle said, “Don Bosco has always helped us in hard times, we are very grateful to Don Bosco.” Ms. Zarina Khan (DBDS – Staff) along with the DBDS team organized this Health camp. She also proposed the vote of thanks at the end.
