Mumbai, 22-Dec-2017:
The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai organized a workshop on ‘Improving Nutritional Status of Women and Children’. 120 slum women from different Self-Help Group (SHG) in Mumbai participated in the workshop, supported by Salesian Pastoral Youth Services, Malta.

Fr Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director – DBDS) said, “I sincerely thank Salesian Pastoral Youth Services (Malta) for supporting this venture and I urge all of you to take care of our own health and of your children.” Fr Manuel expressed his joy after seeing such a big gathering and he urged the women to especially take care of their children’s health by giving them nutritious food.

Ms. Surekha Pednekar (Project Coordinator - DBDS) welcomed the resource persons, from the organization ‘Foundation for Women and Child Health’: Ms Syaima (Nutritionist) and Ms Veena Nanda (Staff). They gave detailed information about nutrition and health of women and children. They further explained the types of foods to be consumed and to be avoided – which was a new revelation for all the participants.

The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mrs Ranjana Gangurde (Staff - DBDS). The women participants went back enriched about the information provided to them and nourished with the sumptuous snack-box given to all.
