8-Jan- 2018, Chinchwad (Pune): The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized an awareness workshop on the topic of ‘Harmful Effects of Tobacco and Gutkha Chewing’ for the students of I.T.I. at Durga Nagar. The workshop was held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction’ project supported by AXA Business Services Ltd.

The objective of this workshop was to educate students on the health risks associated with the tobacco consumption. About, 200 students participated in this workshop. Dr. Rajendra More was the resource person for this Session. The event was held in association with Swami I.T.I at Durga Nagar in Chinchwad.

Dr. More covered various topics on composition of tobacco, forms of tobacco, harmful effects on body and mind, oral cancer, lung cancer and many more health problems associated with it.

“It was for the very first time I discovered the hazardous consequences of chewing Ghutka. It’s very difficult for me to give up this habit but NOW I will surely try,” said one of the youth (name withheld for privacy reasons). Ms. Lalita Chaudhari (DBDS Coordinator) proposed the vote of thanks at the end of program.
