208 ROAD SAFETY WEEK – FOR SLUM KIDS

Mumbai (Matunga), 09-Jan-2018: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai in association with Mumbai Traffic police organized an interactive workshop on “Road Safety” with the kids from nearby slums. Ms Surekha Pednekar (DBDS - Project Coordinator) welcomed the gathering and spoke on the purpose of this workshop.

Fr Rolvin D’Mello (DBDS – Executive Director) emphasised that the growing traffic in the city is increasing the road accidents and that children ought to take precaution when they are on road. Interacting with the kids Traffic Inspector Eknath Jadhav spoke on traffic rules and road safety. The highlights of the workshop were:

1) Drawing competition with message of road safety

2) Kids taught poem and rhymes on road safety

3) Different police personnel taught various elements of road safety and signals.

All the participants of drawing competition were awarded prizes by the Traffic Police. Snacks were served to all the kids. The program ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms Surekha.
