250 MANOS UNIDAS DELEGATE VISIT: Free Health Camp & SHGs Gathering

03-Mar-2018, Pune: A Senior Delegate from Manos Unidas, Spain visited the ‘Women Empowerment and Education Project’ being implemented in slums of Pune by Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS). On this occasion a ‘Free Health Camp’ was organized in the Indira Nagar slum in which 183 people were examined by the doctors and para medical staff from Aundh Government Hospital.

The delegate was given a traditional welcome by the local community; Aarti, Kumkum and a Garland was given as a mark of respect towards the support given by the Manos Unidas. Fr Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director - DBDS) gave a welcome speech and thanked Manos Unidas for its whole hearted support towards the cause. The delegate interacted with the doctors and staff present in the camp and also thanked everyone for their contribution.

Later, the delegate visited the Gandhi Nagar slum and interacted with project beneficiaries and Self-Help Group (SHG) members. Around 50 women from different SHGs were present in the event. The SHGs women also displayed their products; Navdeep SHG displayed homemade sweets such as Soya bean Laddu which they sell in market, Mahalaxmi SHG displayed Liquid soap, Navdisha SHG displayed Instant mix and spices, snacks and Samarth SHG displayed Readymade cloths.

The delegate interacted with the women on project’s benefit and their income. The beneficiaries were very keen on taking a ‘Selfie’ with her. After that the delegate went to see the project office in Koregaon Park (Pune) where she inspected the project records, monthly reports, monitoring reports, and accounts and also interacted with project staff.
