Chinchwad (Pune), 22-Mar-2018: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized a free health and eye checkup camp for the residents of Ajantha Nagar slum in Chinchwad. 105 people (60 women, 26 men and 19 children) were examined by the doctors in this camp held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction project’ supported by AXA Business Services.

4 Cataract patients, 7 Dental patient and 13 general patient were identified in this camp who will be treated at low cost in their hospital. Medicines for the people with illness were distributed free and people with defective vision were given specs at a discounted price.

The camp was held in collaboration with doctors and their team from Sterling Multispecialty Hospital- Nigadi in Pune. Dr. Rupali Khobragade (MD), Dr. Vrunda Kurnde (MD), Dr. Pavan Behare (MD), Dr. Snehal Bhosale (MD), Dr. Bhawana Shree (BDS – Dentist), Dr. Sudha Singh & 3 doctor ( MD- Pediatric), Dr. Rutuja and Dr. Dhananjay (Ophthalmologist) along with one Nurses, two medical social workers examined the patients during this health camp. B.P, eye, dental, oral cancer and general check-up were done for all patients. Patients were diagnosed to be suffering from Eye infection, Joint pain, Fungal Infection, Common cold, menstrual irregularities, Calcium deficiency, Gastric Problem, Skin infections etc.

Three volunteers from AXA Business Services also participated in the health camp. The volunteers were extremely helpful as they helped in patient registration, arranging facilities, visiting slums and informing people about the health camp and managing the crowd. Few patients were also referred to Sterling Hospital for further treatment. DBDS staff did all the logistical arrangement and canvassing for this health camp.
