275 ROAD SAFETY AND TRAFFIC RULES SESSION FOR SLUM CHILDREN

9-April-2018, Chinchwad (Pune): The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized an interactive session on ‘Road Safety and Traffic Rules’ for the children of Khadi Machin slum in Chinchwad. 25 Children participated in this session held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction’ project supported by AXA Business Services Ltd.

Ms. Lalita Chaudhari (Coordinator - DBDS) introduced the project and shared information about the project with the children. Mr. Devrao Adhav (Police- Mitra) and Mr. Mohan Joshi- (Journalist) were the resource persons for this session. In their talk they covered various DO’s and DON’Ts related to road safety. They laid special emphasises on following points:

• Speed limits, helmet
• Drinking and driving
• Honking, headlight and use of dipper
• Traffic signals, waiting time
• Zebra crossing, speed breakers
• Emergency medical services, etc.

They also educated children on helping victims of road accidents. In case of accidents always call police by dialling numbers: 100 & 103. In the end snacks were served to all the children and Ms. Chaudhari proposed vote of thanks. Mrs. Rajshree Deshkahire (Staff-DBDS) did the logistical arrangement for this session.
