281 ROAD SAFETY SESSION WITH SLUM CHILDREN

19-April-2018, Chinchwad (Pune): The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized an interactive session on ‘Road Safety and Traffic Rules’ for the children in Datta Nagar slum in Chinchwad. 31 Children participated in this session which was held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction’ project supported by AXA Business Services Ltd.

Ms. Lalita Chaudhari – (Coordinator- DBDS) was the resource persons for this session. In her interactive session, she covered various DO’s and DON’Ts related to road safety and also explained various traffic symbols used in day to day life. She laid special emphasises on following points:

1. Drinking and driving
2. Traffic signals, waiting time
3. Honking, headlight and use of dipper
4. Zebra crossing, speed breakers
5. Speed limits, helmet
6. Emergency medical services, etc.

She also educated children on helping victims of road accidents. She informed that in case of accidents, always call police by dialling numbers: 100 & 103. After that Mrs. Vrushli Unhale (Staff-DBDS) spoke about health and hygiene. After the session snacks were served to all the children and she also proposed vote of thanks at the end of program.
