286 ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS FOR SLUM CHILDREN

Chinchwad (Pune), 27-April-2018: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized an interactive session on ‘Road Safety and Traffic Rules’ for the children in Saibaba Nagar slum in Chinchwad. 29 Children participated in this session which was held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction’ project supported by AXA Business Services Ltd.

Ms. Lalita Chaudhari (DBDS- Coordinator) was the resource persons for this session. In her interactive session, she covered important topics related to road safety and also explained various traffic symbols used in day to day life. She laid special emphasises on following points:

• Speed limits, helmet
• Drinking and driving
• Honking, headlight and use of dipper
• Traffic signals, waiting time
• Zebra crossing, speed breakers
• Emergency medical services, etc.

In the second part, she educated children on helping victims of road accidents. In case of accidents always call police by dialing numbers: 100 & 103. After the session snacks were served to all the children and Mrs. Vrushali Unhale (Staff- DBDS) proposed the vote of thanks at the end of program.
