290 CANCER PREVENTIVE CHECKUP CAMP FOR SLUM WOMEN

5-May-2018, Pune: The Don Bosco Development society (DBDS), Pune organized ‘Ovarian Cancer Preventive Checkup’ Camp at Dr. Shaikh Clinic in Laxmi Nagar slum in Yerwada (Pune). The health camp was held under the aegis of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by Manos Unidas, Spain.

The objective of this health camp was to detect the ovarian cancer infection in women residing in slum. The health camp was held in association with Prayas Foundation started at 9.30 am and it continued till 3.30pm. The paramedical staff did VIA Tests of women in the age group of 30 to 60 years and Coagulator therapy to find out the infection.

52 women underwent test and 2 women were found to be suspected of Ovarian Cancer who were referred for further inspection at Prayas foundation Hospital at Deccan in Pune. Dr Anjum Shaik and her team conducted these examinations. All the DBDS staff were present for this health camp and did all the logistical arrangements for this camp.
