296 FINANCIAL PLANNING AND LITERACY FOR THE UNDERPRIVILEGED

10-May-2018, Pune: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Pune organized a Financial Literacy Workshop for the women residing in the Jai Jawan Nagar slum in Pune. 27 women participated in this event held under the aegis of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by Manos Unidas, Spain.

“Firstly the women from the slum earn very little income and as a result they never save – whereas we want to educate them to save smartly the little that they earn,” said Fr Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director – DBDS). Ms. Jyoti Sonwane (Staff - DBDS) welcomed the participants and introduced them to the project and works of DBDS.

Mr Nagsen Chavan (Coordinator-DBDS) was the resource person for this session, he spoke about, Illegal financial schemes, scams, online fraud schemes like Speak Asia Online, Royal Twinkle Star Club Ltd, Pearl, Pan card, Stock guru India and also saving and pension schemes such as Samrudha Jivan Yojan, PPF, Atal Pension Yojana, Jiwan Jyoti Yojana, Post office saving Schemes etc. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Jyoti.
