15-May-2018, Mumbai: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) organized a free health check-up camp for the women and children residing in Lal Bahadur Shastri Nagar slum in Sakinaka Andheri (East). 159 women, children and youth were examined by the doctors in this camp which was held under the aegis of ‘MGL Disha Project’ funded by Mahanagar Gas Limited.

This camp was held in association with Larsen & Toubro Ltd from Andheri. Dr. Dinesh Badani, Dr. Smita Trivedi along with 1 Nurse and 2 Medical Social workers examined the patients during this health camp. The purpose of this health camp was to identify anaemic children and women in the slum.
Patients were screened for anaemia using a symptoms questionnaire. Most of the girls who were examined were suffering from iron and vitamin deficiency leading to anaemia. The doctors distributed iron and vitamin tablets to such girls.

Giving her feedback, one of the beneficiary - Mrs Moli Dsouza said, “The children and girls are under nourished in this area, this camp was benefited such children by examining them and counselling them. This will improve their health in future.” Mrs. Zarina Khan (Staff – DBDS) made the logistical arrangement for this health camp, she also proposed the vote of thanks at the end.
