311 WORLD ‘No Tobacco Day’ RALLY IN ASHOK NAGAR SLUM

Mumbai, 31-May-2018:
The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai organized a Rally and a Street play on the occasion of World ‘No Tobacco Day’ in the Ashok Nagar slum in Kurla (Mumbai). The theme of the events was ‘tambakoo matlab khallas’ (Tobacco means death). These events were held under the aegis of ‘MGL Disha Project’ supported by Mahanagar Gas Ltd. 

The objective of the events was to educate people on the harmful effects of tobacco and to abstain people from consuming tobacco. More than 80 children from the study class, teachers and volunteers participated in the rally which marched all over the slum shouting slogans, carrying flashcards and speaking to people of tobacco effects to grab the attention of the people living in this slum area. 

The participants generated awareness among the people on the problem of consuming tobacco and the negative effects it has on the body and health. The rally started at Jai Santoshi Mata Nagar and ended in Ashok Nagar home guard market area. At this place a street play was presented by the group called ‘bright future.’ The rally took place in the market area to reach out to maximum people and convey the message of stop consuming tobacco in any form.
