318 ROAD SAFETY EDUCATION FOR SLUM CHILDREN IN AJANTA NAGAR

6-June-2018, Chinchwad (Pune): The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized an interactive session on ‘Road Safety and Traffic Rules’ for the children in Ajantha Nagar slum in Pune. 39 children participated in this session which was held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction’ project supported by AXA Business Services Ltd.

Ms. Lalita Chaudhari – (aDBDS- Coordinator) was the resource persons for this session. In her interactive session, she covered various DO’s and DON’Ts related to road safety and also explained various traffic symbols used in day to day life. She laid special emphasises on following points:

• Speed limits, helmet
• Drinking and driving
• Honking, headlight and use of dipper
• Traffic signals, waiting time
• Zebra crossing, speed breakers
• Emergency medical services, etc.

She also educated children on helping victims of road accidents. In case of accidents always call police by dialling numbers: 100 & 103. After the session snacks were served to all the children. Mrs. Vibhawari Kamble (staff- DBDS) proposed the vote of thanks at the end of program.
