9-June-2018, Mumbai:
The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) organized a free health check-up camp for the women and children residing in Nalanda Nagar slum in Ghatkopar (East). 145 women, children and youth were examined by the doctors in this camp. The camp was held under the aegis of ‘MGL Disha Project’ supported by Mahanagar Gas Limited.

Dr. Dinesh Badani and Dr. Smita Trivedi along with 1 Nurse and 2 Medical Social workers examined the patients during this health camp. The purpose of this health camp was to identify anaemic children and women in the slum.
Patients were screened for anaemia using a symptoms questionnaire. 15 volunteers from the local slum also participated in the health camp. The volunteers were extremely helpful as they helped in arranging facilities, visiting slums and informing people about the health camp and managing the crowd. The doctors distributed iron, vitamin tablets and skin ointment to such patients who were anaemic.

Giving her feedback, one of the beneficiary of the health camp- Ms. Sandhya Kharat & Mr. Sagar Sable said, “We are very grateful to Don Bosco for holding this health camp, it has benefited many people in this area which is devoid of government health services.” Mrs. Zarina Khan (Staff – DBDS) made the logistical arrangement for this health camp. She also proposed vote of thanks at the end.
