375 ROAD SAFETY SESSION FOR SLUM CHILDREN

Chinchwad (Pune), 29-August-2018: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized an interactive session on “Road Safety” for the children from Ambedkar Nagar slum. This session was held in association with Nigadi Traffic police. 27 Children participated in this session held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction Project’ supported by AXA Business Services.

Mr. Arjun Sharnagate (DBDS - Staff) welcomed the gathering and spoke on the purpose of this session. Mr Jadhav (Police Sub Inspector) and Mr. Vikas Avate (Traffic Police department) were the resource persons for this session. In their interactive session, they covered various topics related to road safety and also explained various traffic symbols used in day to day life.

They laid special emphasis on following points:

• follow speed limits, use of helmet

• never drink and drive

• no honking, use headlight and use of dipper

• follow traffic signals, waiting time

• use zebra crossing, slow down at speed breakers

• call emergency medical services, etc.

They also educated children on helping victims of road accidents. In case of accidents always call police by dialling numbers: 100 & 103. After the session snacks were served to all the children. Mrs. Vibhawari Kamble (DBDS -Staff) did the logistical arrangement for this session.
