14-September-2018, Ahmednagar (Maharashtra): The Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK), Ahmednagar celebrated various festivals and cultural events during the months of July and August 2018 in 30 villages of Ahmednagar. These events were organized under the aegis of ‘Village Education Project’ supported by Kindermissionswerk (Aachen, Germany)

Village Education Programme (VEP) is a project for young children in 30 backward villages in the districts of Ahmednagar and Beed. Every day 2-3 hours of school education and life skills classes are held for children under the guidance of a village teacher. Several extracurricular activities, games, competitions, exposure visits are organized regularly for children. The focus of this project is on holistic growth of these children over the next three years.

During the months of July and August several festivals were celebrated in these classes such as Krishna Janmaashtmi (Dahi Handi), Rakshabandhan, Independence Day, Teachers Day and Sapling Plantation (1000 Saplings in 27 villages). The teachers explained to the children the significance of various festivals. These activities have shown positive result on creativity, friendly behavior, trust building and respect toward each other.
