Chinchwad (Pune), 4-October-2018: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized a five days training workshop on ‘Spices and Instant Mix Making’ for the Self-Help Group women from Durga Nagar slum in Chinchwad. The workshop was held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction Project’ supported by AXA Business Services Ltd.

The training workshop was held during 27th - 29th September 2018. The programme began with a brief welcome of participants and resource person by Ms. Lalita Chaudhari (Coordinator-DBDS). Mrs. Lalita Mahajan (Sr. Technical instructor) and Mrs. Hema Mane (Jr. Technical instructor) were the resource persons. The training was held in association with ‘Kasturba Mahila Khadi Gramodyog Vidyalaya’ which is a government recognized training institution.

The objective of this training was to impart skills and knowledge for operating micro business. 16 women successfully completed the entire training; during which 10 different kinds of spices and 8 Instant mixes were taught to the participants. These included Tea masala, Biryani masala, Kandalasun masala, Sunday Masala, Gram Masala, Pavbhaji Masala, Sambhar Masala, & Malvani Masala. Instant mix like Dhokala, Basundi, Gulabjamun, Kheer, Idli, Medu Vada, Laddu, Mugbhaji Mix etc. were also taught to participants.

Participants of the training were selected based on an interview and aptitude towards business. Mrs. Uma Dhotre (in charge- Khadi Gram Udyog) was the resource person for training on marketing, costing, budgeting, pricing and branding of product.
