407 GLOBAL HAND WASHING DAY Celebrated With Slum Children

15-October-2018, Koregaon Park (Pune): The Don Bosco Development Society- Koregaon Park celebrated the Global Hand Washing Day with the children in Laxminagar Slum in Pune. 29 children who daily benefit from the support classes run by DBDS; participated in this event which was held under the aegis of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by Manos Unidas, Spain.

The objective of the event was to make children aware about the cleanliness and the importance of hand washing at critical points in daily life. The theme of the programme was ‘Our Hands, Our Future!”. Miss. Nilima Chandhare (DBDS-Staff) demonstrated the correct way to wash hands using soap and liquid soap. In her demonstration she stressed on the fact that hand should be properly washed after visiting toilet and before eating as hand are the primary source of spreading harmful germs.

Children were very enthusiastic and actively participated in the program. At the end, everyone took pledge to wash hand everyday using soap or liquid soap and also spread this message in their neighborhood. Mrs. Fatima Ajmeri (Part-time teacher) assisted in the smooth conduct of this event. Program ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Jyoti Sonwane (DBDS-Staff).
