24-October-2018, Chinchwad (Pune):
The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) Chinchwad organized a street play and Health Exhibition in the Ajantha Nagar slum. The theme of this event was ‘Tobacco Free Society’. This street play and health exhibition was held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction Project’ supported by AXA Business Services.

The focus of this activity was to communicate health risks associated with tobacco consumption. The program started at 9:00 am in the morning with the display of posters in the form of an exhibition. The posters contained visual material and written information on health risks associated with consuming tobacco and its effects on personal health, family and society. Plenty of visitors stopped to see, read and understand the posters. The social workers explained the information to the visitors and shared information on the resources on tobacco cessation.

The street play was enacted in the open space in the slum. It focused on the damage done by tobacco to body which happens slowly. It portrayed the ordeal which the family members undergo whose family member is a smoker. How the family suffers due to his smoking habit, eventually the person suffers from lungs damage and loses life. It beautifully captured the harmful effects to tobacco consumption.
