417 FIVE-DAY INCOME GENERATION TRAINING FOR SLUM WOMEN

29-October-2018, Chinchwad (Pune): The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized a five days training workshop on ‘Soybean product and Instant Mix Making’ for the Self-Help Group women from Mahatma Phule Nagar slum in Chinchwad. The workshop was held under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction Project’ supported by AXA Business Services Ltd.

The training workshop was held during 23rd - 27th October 2018. The program began with a brief welcome of participants and resource person by Ms. Vibhawari Kamble (DBDS- Staff). Mrs. Lalita Mahajan (Sr. Technical instructor) and Mrs. Varsha Atole (Junior Technical Instructor) were the resource persons. The training was held in association with ‘Kasturba Mahila Khadi Gramodyog Vidyalaya’ which is a government recognized training institution.

The objective of this training was to impart skills and knowledge for operating micro business. 15 women successfully completed the entire training during which 5 different kinds of soya product and 8 Instant mixes were taught to the participants. These included soya Milk, soya curd, soya paneer, soya peanuts, and soya laddu. Instant mix like Dhokala, Basundi, Gulabjamun, Kheer, Idli, Medu Vada, Laddu, Mugbhaji Mix etc. were also taught to participants.

Participants of the training were selected based on an interview and aptitude towards business. Mrs. Uma Dhotre (In charge- Khadi Gram Udyog) was the resource person for training on marketing, costing, budgeting, pricing and branding of product.
