14-December-2018, Mumbai: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) Mumbai, conducted a free Hepatitis-B & C vaccination camp for the people of Ashok Nagar slum. This was the second such camp in this area. 45 people were vaccinated in this camp held under the aegis of ‘MGL Disha Project.’

Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C is an infection of liver. It spread through contact with the blood and bodily fluids of an infected person. Hepatitis threatens the liver’s ability to function. Many of the liver’s functions involve cleansing blood, fighting infection, and storing energy. It can cause chronic liver disease and puts people at high risk of death from liver cirrhosis or cancer. Its vaccine is very costly but it was given free of cost to poor people from the slum.

Two patients were identified in this camp and were referred to Americare health centre at Mahalaxmi for counselling and treatment.
