448 MGL DISHA PROJECT : Free Health Camp in Azad Nagar slum

17-December-2018, Mumbai: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), organized a free health and eye check-up camp for the women and children residing in Azad Nagar slum in Ghatkoper (West). 223 patients (67 children, 52 men and 104 women) were examined by the doctor in this camp which was held under the aegis of ‘MGL Disha Project’ supported by Mahanagar Gas Ltd.

Mrs. Zarina Khan (Staff- DBDS) welcomed the patients, doctors and para-medical staff. Dr Abhishek Jandade, Mr. Pramod and his team examined the patients. Patients were diagnosed with Joint pain, Fungal Infection, Common cold, Calcium deficiency, Gastric Problem, Skin infections and vision problem etc. Simultaneously, 125 people were also examined for eyesight and vision by the ophthalmologist. No Cataract patients were identified in this camp. Ms. Surekha Pednekar (Project Officer - DBDS) monitored the administration of entire health camp.

The DBDS staff and volunteers from the slum were extremely helpful in logistical arrangement such as putting up pandal, chairs and tables, arranging water, visiting families in slums and informing them about the health camp and in managing the crowd. Local people were very happy with this health camp and praised the efforts of Mahanagar Gas Limited. Zakir Bhai (volunteer) proposed the vote of thanks at the end.
