15-December-2018, Mumbai: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai organized a one day training on ‘Investment Planning’ for women from low income group residing in Ganesh Nagar slum in Wadala(Mumbai). 61 women participated in this workshop.

Mr. Pranay Surve (Public Relation Inspector) was the resource person for the workshop. Ms. Surekha Pednekar (Project Officer - DBDS) welcomed the resource person and explained the objective of the training session. The workshop focused on the saving and investment behaviour of people. It compared risk and returns of different assets classes like gold, equity, real estate etc. He further urged the participants to save money and invest smartly so that they could have good returns from the investments.

Most of the people tend to invest in insurance thinking that it is an investment but in reality it is a risk cover and returns are low. Detailed information was given on investment in small saving schemes, pension schemes etc. Participants invited the resource per

son to hold more such sessions in the slum community. After training women were given forms of schemes like Sukanya Samruddhi Yojana, PPF etc. Mr. Sunil Pandhare (DBDS – Staff) made the necessary arrangements for this workshop.
