15-December-2018, Mumbai: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai organized saving account passbook distribution programme at Ghadage BMC School in Ashok Nagar slum for women resident of the slum. 110 A/c books were distributed to account holder. This is the fruit of financial literacy intervention done under the aegis of ‘MGL Disha Project’ supported by MAHANAGAR GAS LIMITED.

Fr Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director – DBDS) was the chief guest of this programme; he in his speech exhorted the slum women to save and invest smartly. Ms. Surekha Pednekar (Project Officer - DBDS) welcomed the gathering. This programme was part of the financial literacy initiative of DBDS and MGL. Under this initiative financial literacy sessions were held in 9 different places and more than 500 women were educated on savings, investment and insurance.

Many women were linked to PPF, Sukanya Samruddhi Yojna, recurring deposit, saving accounts etc. The documentation was done by the government officials. Mrs Zarina Khan (Staff - DBDS) and support class teacher made the necessary arrangements for this workshop.
