8-March-2019, Mumbai: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Mumbai celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March 2019 at Ashok Nagar slum in Kurla. About 180 women and children participated in this programme held under the aegis of ‘MGL Disha Project’ supported by Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL).

The event began with welcoming of the Chief Guest: Mrs Neera Asthana (AGM-Corporate Communications) and eminent dignitaries from Mahanagar Gas Limited by presenting them with a flower. This was followed by an experience sharing session by the beneficiaries of this project. Students shared their learning experience in the classes, women shared their experience of working in a SHG, getting financially literate, beneficiaries of vocational training shared their experience of learning skills etc.

After this session, games were conducted which was followed by dance by students of vocational skills classes. Mr Nitin educated women on their health and fitness. MGL dignitaries presents gifts to the women participants and chocolates to children. It was a memorable day for the participants as they reflected on their achievement under this project and also enjoyed various activities. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Fr Rolvin D’Mello (Executive Director- DBDS).
