568 ANTI-TOBACCO CAMPAIGN: Health Awareness Session for Slum Youth

Chinchwad (Pune), 11-April-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Chinchwad organized an awareness and interactive session on ‘Harmful Effects Of Tobacco and Gutkha Chewing’ for the youth at Vidya Nagar slum in Chinchwad under the aegis of ‘Health Risk Reduction’ project supported by AXA Business Services Ltd.

The programme started with the introduction of resource person by Ms. Lalita Chaudhari (Coordinator- DBDS). Dr. Narayan Jaibhai was the resource person for this workshop and shared information about the project. The objective of this workshop was to educate youth on the risky habit of consuming tobacco products and harmful effects to such habits. 31 youth and senior citizen participated in this workshop.

Dr. Jaibhai covered various topics on composition of tobacco, forms of tobacco, harmful effects on body and mind, oral cancer, lung cancer and many more health problems associated with it. Youths asked many questions which were answered by the resource person. Ms. Rajshree Deshkhire (Staff -DBDS) did the logistical arrangement for this session and organized youths to participate in this session.
