580 HEPATITIS VACCINATION CAMP at Ashok Nagar & Lbs Nagar

Mumbai, 17-April-2019: The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS) Mumbai, conducted a Hepatitis B & C vaccination camp for the people of Ashok Nagar slum and LBS Nagar slum. 25 people in Ashok Nagar and 30 people in LBS Nagar were vaccinated in this camp held under the aegis of ‘MGL Disha Project’ supported by Mahanagar Gas Limited.

Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C is an infection of liver. It spread through contact with the blood and bodily fluids of an infected person. Hepatitis threatens the liver’s ability to function. Many of the liver’s functions involve cleansing blood, fighting infection, and storing energy. It can cause chronic liver disease and puts people at high risk of death from liver cirrhosis or cancer.

This vaccine is very costly but it was given free of cost to poor people from the slum. Two patient was identified positive during this camp and were referred to Americare Health Centre for counselling and further treatment.
