587 FINANCIAL LITERACY TRAINING FOR SLUM WOMEN

Koregaon Park ( Pune), 29-April-2019 : The Don Bosco Development Society (DBDS), Pune organized a workshop on ‘Financial Literacy’ for the Self-Help Group women from Sidhharth Nagar slum in Pune. 17 women participated in this programme held under the aegis of ‘Women Empowerment Project’ supported by Manos Unidas, Spain.

Mrs. Priya Sonwane (Staff-DBDS) welcomed the participants and gave information about DBDS work and project activities. Mr. Nagsen Chavan (Coordinator – DBDS) was the resource person. He gave information on following:

· Small saving schemes of post office and banks

· Financial scams and fraudulent schemes like Speak Asia Online, Royal Twinkle Star Club Ltd, Stock guru India, Pearl gold forest, Pancard Investment etc

· Government schemes such as Public Provident Fund, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jevan Jyoti yojana etc

· Life insurance and health insurance schemes

He then stressed upon the importance of disciplined saving and regular small investments for achieving financial goals. The participants asked many questions which were all answered by the resource person. The Program ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Nilima Chandhare (Staff-DBDS).
